February 12 marks an important milestone for MG Motor India as it prepares to launch the Majestor, its new flagship ICE-powered SUV. First unveiled at Auto Expo 2025, the Majestor is positioned above the already well-known Gloster, signalling MG’s intent to strengthen its presence in the premium full-size SUV space. While the Gloster has carved a solid reputation for comfort and road presence, the Majestor aims to raise the bar with a more assertive personality, richer equipment, and a stronger sense of occasion. At first glance, the Majestor makes its ambitions clear. Compared to the Gloster, the design language is noticeably more aggressive and commanding. The front end is expected to feature a bolder grille treatment, sharper LED lighting signatures, and a more sculpted bumper that gives the SUV a tougher, more upmarket stance. Subtle changes along the sides and at the rear further enhance its road presence, ensuring that the Majestor looks every bit like the flagship it is meant to be. In a segment where visual impact plays a big role, MG seems keen to ensure the Majestor stands out both in city traffic and on the highway. Step inside, and the familiar roots of the Gloster are evident. The overall interior layout is largely similar, focusing on a spacious, comfortable cabin designed to cater to long-distance touring as well as daily commutes. However, the Majestor is expected to push things a notch higher with a more generous feature list. Buyers can anticipate enhanced infotainment and connectivity features, premium upholstery options, and additional comfort and convenience tech that reinforces its flagship positioning. The emphasis, clearly, is on offering a more luxurious and tech-rich experience without losing the practical, user-friendly nature that has worked well for MG so far. Under the hood, the Majestor is likely to retain the proven 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine from the Gloster, producing 216hp. This motor has already established itself as a strong and refined performer, offering a good balance of power and efficiency for a vehicle of this size. Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the setup promises smooth power delivery and relaxed cruising on the open road. MG will continue to offer both RWD and AWD options, giving buyers the flexibility to choose between a more road-focused setup or one that can handle tougher terrain and challenging conditions. Where the Majestor really matters is in what it represents for MG’s line-up. By positioning it above the Gloster, MG is clearly targeting customers who want something more exclusive and more feature-packed, without stepping into the much higher price brackets of luxury brands. The Majestor could appeal to buyers who value space, comfort, and presence, but also want the reassurance of modern technology and a strong diesel powertrain. As the February 12 launch approaches, expectations are high. If MG gets the pricing and feature packaging right, the Majestor has the potential to become a compelling new choice in the premium SUV segment—one that blends familiar strengths with a fresh, more commanding identity. In many ways, the Majestor isn’t just a new model; it’s MG’s statement of intent at the top end of its portfolio.
